Municipal Mandate

The Municipal Traffic and Licensing Section, is committed to improving road safety by providing effective driving license services and traffic enforcement.

We are responsible for enforcing the Municipal traffic laws and clamping down on offences such as speeding, driving under the influence of alcohol, and driving recklessly.

Our purpose is to:

Provide quality services (law enforcement, logistics and administration, education and licencing)
Increase voluntary compliance of road users in respect of road rules
Reduce traffic offence rates and accident rates; and
Improve management practices.

Our vision is to be recognised as one of the leading traffic services in the KwaZulu Natal province and South Africa.
