NOTICE OF PUBLIC PARTICIPATION PROCESS FOR THE REVIEW OF LIBRARY SERVICES BY-LAW
Notice is hereby read with The South African Public Library and Information Services Bill Chapter 3(9) and read together with The National Library of South Africa Act 92 of 1998 that Alfred Duma Local Municipality (ADLM) has developed a draft Library Services By-Law.
The draft Library Services By-Law document is published for final comments. This notice serves to notify all interested and affected parties about the availability of the document and that it may be obtained and/or scrutinized at the following places:
- Alfred Duma Local Municipality – at the Department of Community and Social Services under Community Venues and Libraries in the Office of the Chief Librarian
- Alfred Duma Local Municipality website: www.alfredduma.gov.za
- Municipal Libraries
- Municipal Mayoral Office
- Stakeholders on the municipal database shall receive the document via emails
As part of the Public Participation process, the public is afforded a 30-day period from 05 August 2024 to 03 September 2024 to comment on the draft Library Services By-Law. The draft Library Services By-Law will be available on the municipal website as from 05 August 2024.

The municipality shall refuse to accept the comments received after the closing date of 03 September 2024.
