On Monday, the 27th May 2024, His Worship the Mayor of uThukela District Municipality Inkosi NB Shabalala and His Worship the Mayor of Alfred Duma Local Municipality Cllr Zama Sibisi co-hosted a mayoral outreach programme and election prayer at Matiwane community hall in ward 24 under Cllr Ngcobo.
His worship the Mayor of Alfred Duma Local Municipality Cllr Zama Sibisi in his keynote address acknowledged the presence of Inkosi NB Shabalala, Ndlunkulu
Shabalala, izinduna, municipal officials from both municipalities, members of the community and representatives from various churches.
He commended the positive response of churches after being invited by the municipality to attend the election prayer during this election period. The mayor also urged the community to pray for all leaders to lead with transparency and to be considerate of all religions as they are all critical sectors of society.
“As a municipality, we care and love our senior citizens hence, we spread winter warmth to the senior citizens of this municipality during this cold season. We also recognize the tremendous roleyou playin our society”, said Mayor Sibisi.
UThukela Distric Mayor, Inkosi NB Shabalala in his keynote address first welcomed and recognized the all members present and outlined the purpose of today’s program, which was to unite together and pray for the peaceful elections. He further spoke of the service of bringing water closer to the people where Inkosi mentioned the implementation of boreholes in the area.
Both Mayors visit in Matiwane did not come empty handed but brought winter warmth gift for senior citizens and food parcels as a good gesture to appreciate the elderly. The citizens were over the moon knowing that they will be sleeping in warm and comporting blankets in this cold season.
