Today, the 15th August 2024, the Alfred Duma Local Municipality Mayor, Cllr Zama Sibisi, accompanied by the PR Cllr Sithole, visited Roosboom area in ward 13 under Cllr A Rajkoomar. The aim of the visit was to assist the family of Mchunu with a farming tractor to plough their farming field.
“As we are still celebrating the women’s month, the tractor was handed over to Mam Mchunu. This initiative is planned to promote self-help and self-reliance, especially for women, and to encourage farming. As the municipality, we care for our communities and promote the one home, one garden principle,” said the Mayor.
The Mchunu family welcomed and thanked the mayor and his team for their assistance. They expressed their intention to begin sowing as soon as the tractor finishes ploughing. They will plant potatoes. Mam Mchunu also requested to be assisted with additional seed by the municipality.
