On the 19th and 20th of November 2024, Alfred Duma Local Municipality, under the Local Economic Development section, in partnership with Ithala Development Finance Corporation and the department of Tourism and Environmental Affairs, held a Masakhe training session at the Ladysmith town hall in the council chamber.
The training was aimed at enhancing the business management skills of local SMMEs (Small, Medium, and Micro Enterprises) in the Uthukela District. Topics covered included how to start a business, developing a business plan, financial management, and record keeping.
Among the representatives and speakers were Thobeka Nkosi and Bonisiwe Ngcobo from the Alfred Duma Local Municipality’s Local Economic Development office, Philisiwe Msomi from Ithala Development Finance Corporation, and the training was facilitated by Zama Dlamini of Zamsiba Development Consultants. A total of 43 small businesses and cooperatives from various sectors attended.
