The Alfred Duma Local Municipality is pleased to announce the official introduction of contractors for two critical electrification projects in Ward 29 (KwaNogejane) and Ward 25 (Colenso). These projects reaffirm the Municipality’s commitment to enhancing the quality of life for residents by providing essential services.
In Ward 29, Mayor Cllr. Zama Sibisi led the introduction of the appointed contractor, R Busisiwe (Pty) Ltd, at KwaNogejane Community Hall. This project aims to bring household electrification to numerous homes previously without access to electricity, significantly improving living conditions and creating local employment opportunities. R Busisiwe (Pty) Ltd was selected through a transparent procurement process, ensuring compliance with local and national regulations. The project will employ 10 community members and is expected to be completed within three months.
The introduction event was attended by local leadership, including Cllrs. Madondo, Kubheka, Mlaba, Xaba, Majola, Mhlongo, Ngubane, and Zwane. The Municipality remains committed to maintaining open communication with community stakeholders to ensure the project’s success.
Meanwhile, in Ward 25 (Colenso), Deputy Mayor Cllr. S. Simelane introduced the appointed contractor, Messrs Black Shepard (Pty) Ltd, at Nkanyezi Community Hall. This project involves the installation of four high-mast lights to enhance visibility and curb crime in the area. Valued at R2.5 million, the project is expected to be completed within four months and will provide employment for 8 local residents.
Cllr. Simelane commended the community for supporting their ward councillor and urged them to protect the new infrastructure. The event was attended by Cllr. Mlotshwa, Cllr. Hadebe, Cllr. Sithole, municipal officials, and local residents.
