The Alfred Duma Local Municipality is continuing its commitment to transparent governance and local economic development by introducing contractors for various high mast light installation projects across different wards. These projects aim to improve community safety and create employment opportunities for local residents.
On Tuesday, August 5th, 2025, Mayor Cllr ZJ Sibisi, along with municipal officials and councillors, officially introduced KUSH POWER as the contractor for high mast light installation projects in Ward 3 (Ezakheni, Manzini Abilayo area) and Ward 27 (St Chads). Each project is valued at R2.5 million and is expected to be completed within 4 months.
These projects are anticipated to generate significant employment opportunities for the communities within these wards. Mayor Sibisi emphasized the municipality’s dedication to ensuring that local residents benefit from these initiatives. The projects form a key part of the IDP and the Municipality’s drive to ensure that lights are installed where they are most needed.
In a related development, the Deputy Mayor, Cllr S Simelane, introduced BBTN Technologies Pty Ltd as the contractor for a similar high mast light installation project in Ward 37 (Sahlumbe). This project is valued at R2.1 million and has a shorter completion timeline of 30 days. It is expected to create 8 employment opportunities for local residents of Sahlumbe.
The Alfred Duma Local MMunicipalityis set to continue visiting other wards as per the programme to officiate contractors’ introduction. The municipality reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to transparent governance and sustainable development. This project exemplifies the municipality’s proactive approach to addressing community needs and improving the overall quality of life for its citizens.
