The Alfred Duma Local Municipality, under the leadership of Mayor Cllr Z.J. Sibisi, through the department of Community and Social Services, successfully carried out a comprehensive clean-up campaign in Ward 21, Steadville, on Thursday, 27 November 2025.

This impactful initiative was made possible through a strong collaboration between the municipality and several generous sponsors. Contributors included Aquelle Company, Shoprite, Hlabangani Butchery, and the dedicated CWP workers.

The clean-up campaign focused on several key activities:

Clearing Illegal Dumping: Removing accumulated waste from unauthorized dumping sites.

Community Education: Educating residents about the dangers and negative impacts of illegal dumping on their health and environment.

Ward 21 Cllr S.B Zikalala and Ward 10 Cllr X.P Mngadi played a pivotal role in leading the campaign. They addressed participants at the Steadville Taxi Rank, emphasizing the importance of community involvement. The campaign saw active participation from community members, CWP workers, and Executive Director Ms. Nguse, who personally inspected skip bins at the Steadville hostel to ensure effective waste management.

The primary objective of this initiative is to significantly enhance cleanliness within Ward 21 and create a healthier living environment for all residents. Councillors passionately encouraged community members to take collective responsibility in maintaining a clean environment for the betterment of all.

The municipality expressed sincere gratitude to all sponsors for their invaluable contributions, which included providing refreshments, T-shirts, gloves, and food for the participants. Their support was crucial to the success of the campaign.
