
Today, 14 October 2024, the Alfred Duma Local Municipality, Deputy Mayor Cllr Sizwe Simelane, introduced a contractor that will undertake the electrification for the 96 households in Ward 18.
This initiative is part of the municipal ongoing commitment to improving the quality of life for our residents by ensuring access to essential services.
The electrification project will benefit numerous households in Ward 18, bringing reliable electricity to houses that have previously been without it. This project will not only improve living conditions but also contribute to local economic growth by creating employment opportunities for community members and enhancing access to essential amenities.

In attendance were Cllr Kubheka, Cllr Mbhense, Cllr Shabalala.
The appointed contractor Messer VWP engineers and project managers has been selected following a transparent procurement process to ensure compliance with local and national regulations. They will be tasked with installing electricity infrastructure, connecting households, and ensuring that all work is done to the highest safety and quality standards. The project will open up job opportunities for 08 community members and has to be completed within 6 months.

The Municipality will work closely with community stakeholders to ensure smooth implementation, with regular updates provided to the public on the project’s progress. We urge all residents to cooperate with the contractor and Municipality officials to ensure the success of this initiative.
