The Alfred Duma Local Municipality, in partnership with Economic Development, Tourism, and Environmental Affairs (EDTEA), Trade and Investment KwaZulu-Natal, uThukela District Municipality, uThukela Economic development Agency, Okhahlamba Municipality,Inkosi Langalibalele Municipality successfully hosted a 2-day workshop on investment packaging and business retention that started on the 23rd to 24 July 2024 at the Ladysmith Library Activity room.
The workshop was aimed at stakeholders with the necessary skills and knowledge to package the prioritized Catalytic Projects per each municipality as well as implementing practical programs for attracting and retaining business investment. The over-arching goal was to re-position municipalities within uThukela District as the investment destination through economic growth and development.
Day 1: Investment Packaging
The first day focused on investment packaging, where participants learned more about developing, compelling investment propositions,
creating effective business cases, accessing funding and incentives
showcasing success stories and best practices
Day 2: Business Retention and Expansion
The second day dealt with business retention and expansion, covering topics such as understanding business needs and challenges.
Providing support and resources for growth, facilitating connections and partnerships, strategies for business expansion and job creation.
The workshop brought together local business chamber, government officials, local Municipalities to share insights, experiences, and expertise. Participants engaged in interactive sessions, group discussions, and networking opportunities, fostering a collaborative environment for growth and development.
