
The Alfred Duma Local Municipality’s Local Economic Development (LED) and Tourism section, in partnership with SEDA and the Ladysmith Tourism Association (LTA), successful hosted the Phakama Mbokodo Business Expo at uMnambithi Town Hall Building.
The event took place on Wednesday, 28 August 2024, in the presence of women in business within the district municipality. This collaborative event celebrated Women’s Month, providing a platform for women in business and aspiring entrepreneurs to network, forge relationships, and exchange services as this provided a platform for networking.

The expo aimed to connect participants with government entities and private funding organizations, offering valuable information and resources to grow their businesses. SEDA enlightened attendees on the funding application process, encouraging them to utilize available platforms.

Guests included representatives from the National Empowerment Fund (NEF),the Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs (EDTEA), and Dept. of Agriculture, SEDA/SEFA, Dept. of Labour, Industrial Development Corporation (IDC), KZN Liquor Authority, Old Mutual, Absa, and LTA, offered messages of support, marketing insights, and information on their institutions.

Local Small Medium Micro Enterprises (SMMEs)showcased their businesses and services, making the event a resounding success.
